Five new ways Google is helping students and young people learn and grow using AI, as highlighted in recent initiatives:
AI Training for Educators and Guardians: Google has introduced new AI training courses specifically designed for educators in K-12 and higher education. These courses teach how to leverage Google AI tools to save time, create engaging learning experiences, and inspire innovative ideas. This empowers educators to integrate AI effectively, enhancing the learning environment for students.
Resources for Responsible AI Navigation: Google provides lesson plans and conversation guides to help students and families use AI responsibly. For example, a curriculum grounded in five essentials for getting started with AI offers practical tips and real-world scenarios, while a family guide encourages collaborative exploration of AI, fostering digital literacy among young learners.
Expanding Gemini Access with Supervision: Google is making its AI assistant, Gemini, available to younger users (including teens) with added supervision tools and controls for parents and educators. This allows students to use AI for learning and creativity in a safe, monitored way, both at home and in classrooms, with school administrators managing access through the Google Admin console.
Guidance on Identifying AI-Generated Content: Google offers educational resources, such as YouTube videos, to help students spot and interpret labels on AI-generated content. This initiative builds critical thinking skills, enabling young people to discern synthetic media and navigate an increasingly AI-influenced digital world.
Funding AI Skills Development: Through Google.org, Google has committed $1 million to the MIT RAISE Initiative to advance AI learning and education.
