Each month they removed about 1 million channels and groups, along with over 10 million users who violated our rules. These impressive results were made possible thanks to your reports, as well as our automated detection systems and AI-powered tools.

However, much of this work remained behind the scenes. The public wasn’t fully aware of the extent of our moderation efforts, and media outlets often relied on outdated information from parts of our website that hadn’t been updated in a decade.

To address this, we’ve launched a new section on our website: telegram.org/moderation. This page highlights the incredible work our moderators have done over the years and offers a transparent overview of our ongoing commitment to keeping Telegram safe.

Telegram blocks tens of thousands of groups and channels daily and removes millions of pieces of content that violate its Terms of Service, including incitement to violence, sharing child abuse materials, and trading illegal goods.

Since 2015, moderation has combined user reports with proactive monitoring powered by machine learning. In early 2024, this effort was further enhanced with cutting-edge AI moderation tools.

CSAM Groups and Channels Banned

Telegram enforces a zero-tolerance policy for Child S**al Abuse Materials (CSAM). Since 2018, public images are automatically checked against a hash database of CSAM banned by our moderators over the past decade.

In 2024, we expanded this database with hashes from organizations like the Internet Watch Foundation. Telegram publishes daily transparency reports on the removal of CSAM content.
