Egbin Power Plc, the largest power plant in Nigeria and a key player in the nation’s energy industry, has opened applications for its 2024 Internship Program. This paid internship offers Nigerian university students a valuable opportunity to gain real-world experience at the country’s biggest power generation station. The program will run from January to June 2025, and applications are open until November 15, 2024.
The Egbin Power Internship, also known as the "PowerUp" program, is designed to help students bridge the gap between classroom learning and the demands of the professional world. During this six-month program, interns will work directly with seasoned professionals at the Egbin Power plant in Lagos, developing hands-on skills and enhancing their problem-solving abilities. Participants will also receive monthly stipends to support them during their time at Egbin.
The PowerUp internship goes beyond practical training. Successful applicants will gain hands-on experience in a real-world setting, learning directly from experts in Nigeria’s leading power generation facility. To apply, students need to meet certain requirements. Applicants must be enrolled in a Nigerian university and have completed at least two years of study. A minimum GPA of 2:1 (Second-Class Upper Division) or its equivalent is required. The program is open to students in fields such as engineering, applied industrial science, and computer science.
Egbin Power Plc operates the largest power plant in West Africa, with an installed capacity of 1,320 MW. Located in Lagos, Egbin plays a critical role in Nigeria's power supply. With six generating units, each with a 220 MW capacity, Egbin contributes significantly to the goal of "Lighting up Nigeria" and addressing energy needs across sub-Saharan Africa.
