In a bid to counter the surge of misinformation and disinformation in Anglophone West Africa, DUBAWA, a renowned fact-checking platform, has initiated the call for applications for its 2024 Kwame Karikari Fellowship. This sixth edition aims to boost media literacy and empower journalists, particularly those from television, online media, radio, and print, based in Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, or The Gambia.
The fellowship, spanning six months, targets journalists willing to contribute to the fight against misinformation, regardless of their experience in fact-checking. Successful applicants will receive technical training, one-on-one project mentorship, and support to establish fact-checking desks in their newsrooms. Emphasis is placed on the publication of projects on both the applicants' media platforms and DUBAWA's, as well as promoting fact-checking across various channels. CONTINUE READING.....

Eligible candidates must be full-time employees of media organizations, possess exceptional writing skills, and be residents of the specified countries. Fluency in indigenous languages, especially for translation purposes, is crucial. The fellowship encourages the participation of female journalists, those with disabilities, and individuals knowledgeable in climate and conflict reporting.
The call for applications is open until February 16, 2024, with shortlisting scheduled for February 16-19. A training workshop for selected applicants will be held from February 26-29, and the fellowship program is set to commence on March 1, 2024. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply..
