In a strategic move to harness the potential of its young population in the rapidly evolving digital landscape, Nigeria's Vice President, Sen. Kashim Shettima, has unveiled the federal government's ambitious plan to create two million digital jobs each year. The announcement was made during an interview with Arise TV on the sidelines of the ongoing World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.
Sen. Shettima emphasized that Nigeria's sizable population, with 75% under the age of 30, positions the country uniquely to leverage the digital revolution, particularly in the realms of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet. He expressed confidence that, in the future, Africa, led by Nigeria, could emerge as the global outsourcing capital, filling the impending workforce shortage in Europe, America, and Asia. "We are in a unique position. 230 million people, 75% below the age of 30, are very much at home with digital technology. We can really take advantage of the digital revolution and rightfully take our place in the comity of nations," stated the Vice President.
