Breaking: FG Suspends N-Power, School Feeding Programs Amid Alleged Malfeasance

In a significant move, President Bola Tinubu has announced the suspension of all Social Investment Programs administered by the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA). The decision comes in light of an ongoing investigation into alleged malfeasance in the management of the agency and its various programs.
According to a statement released on Friday by the Director of Information, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Segun Imohiosen, President Tinubu has suspended all four programs under NSIPA for an initial period of six weeks. These programs include the N-Power Programme, Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme, and the Home Grown School Feeding Programme. CONTINUE READING.....
President Tinubu expressed significant concerns about operational lapses and improprieties related to payments made to the beneficiaries of these programs. To address these issues, a ministerial panel has been constituted to conduct a thorough review of NSIPA's operations and recommend necessary reforms.

During this suspension period, all NSIPA-related activities, encompassing distributions, events, payments, collaborations, and registrations, will be frozen. The suspension follows the earlier removal of the Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment, Halima Shehu, amid investigations into the alleged laundering of N37,170,855,753.44 in the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, under the former Minister, Sadiya Umar-Farouq.
