In a significant move to address the challenges of youth unemployment, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, announced on Thursday that the Federal Government has recommenced the payment of arrears to beneficiaries of the N-Power program. Initiated in 2016 by former President Muhammadu Buhari, the N-Power scheme aimed to tackle youth unemployment and foster social development.
Beneficiaries had experienced delays in receiving several months' salaries under the previous administration, but President Bola Tinubu had temporarily halted the payments upon assuming office. During an appearance on Channels Television's Politics Today, Edu assured the public that arrears payment had already commenced, emphasizing the government's commitment to ensuring that every deserving beneficiary receives the owed funds. She stated, "So, N-Power beneficiaries across the nation, I am sure you can attest to the fact that you are seeing your money in your accounts, and this process will continue until the last person who indeed has served is being paid."

Furthermore, Edu revealed that the payment of the N-Power 9-month stipend would continue once the ministry resumes work in January 2024. Following the completion of debt payments to beneficiaries, the Minister promised the continuation of the N-Power program, potentially transitioning into the Renewed Hope Job Creation Program (RHJCP).
