In a recent interview on Channels TV's Politics Today, Minister Betta Edu from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation reiterated the government's commitment to transparency in executing the Presidential Conditional Grant Programme. Launched in early December to counteract the effects of the fuel subsidy removal, the program is set to provide N50,000 grants to eligible beneficiaries.

Minister Edu underscored the government's dedication to transparency, revealing plans to unveil the names of grant recipients on a designated website. "We aim to establish a transparent system by setting up a site where names of beneficiaries from any federal government intervention program can be checked from anywhere in the world. Our objective is to make it public and transparent, instilling confidence in Nigerians regarding government initiatives," she explained.

In pursuit of transparency, a range of technologies, including government-owned and private platforms like Remita, are being employed. Minister Edu clarified that payments are directly transferred from the Central Bank of Nigeria's Treasury Single Account (CBN TSA) to beneficiaries' accounts, eliminating the involvement of consultants' accounts. The ongoing focus of the program is on expanding enrollment, particularly targeting those without established financial structures such as bank accounts. Minister Edu encouraged individuals at the grassroots level to apply, highlighting the program's inclusive nature.
