In a significant development, the Federal Government, through the National Social Investment Programmes (NASIMS), has announced its commitment to disbursing nine months of overdue stipends owed to beneficiaries of the N-Power scheme. This eagerly awaited move comes on the heels of an ongoing restructuring initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, under the capable leadership of Betta Edu.
Batches B and C beneficiaries, predominantly aligned with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), have persistently advocated for the resolution of their outstanding stipends. The N-Power scheme, which deployed beneficiaries to various sectors such as education (N-Teach), healthcare (N-Health), and agriculture (N-Agro), provided a monthly stipend of N30,000. The temporary suspension of the N-Power programme, attributed to the need for a comprehensive restructuring and forensic audit, has yielded positive outcomes. As the programme undergoes transformation, the Renewed Hope Job Creation Programme is poised to continue the legacy of N-Power under the supervision of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs. Minister Betta Edu, addressing concerns related to backlog glitches, reaffirmed that the issues are actively being addressed.
