Update on Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT): Protect Your Personal Information

Beware of fake Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) scam

A scam is circulating via text messages and WhatsApp messengers claiming that the Federal Government of Nigeria is offering a 25,000 Naira conditional cash transfer to all Nigerian households. The scam message includes a link to a website where people can check their eligibility for the CCT.

However, the website is fake and is designed to steal people's personal information, such as their names, addresses, and phone numbers. The scammers may then use this information to commit identity theft or other crimes.

Here are some tips to avoid falling victim to this scam:

Do not click on links in text messages or WhatsApp messages from unknown senders.
Be wary of any message that claims to be from a government agency or other official organization. Government agencies will never ask you for your personal information via text message or WhatsApp.
If you are unsure whether a message is legitimate, contact the organization directly using a known phone number or email address.

Contact the Federal Government of Nigeria to report the scam.
