Police Recruitment Drive Overwhelms Authorities
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has been inundated with applications for the ongoing recruitment exercise into the Constable Cadre of the Nigeria Police Force. The overwhelming response has left the PSC scrambling to keep up with the volume of applications. Spokesperson for the commission, Ikechukwu Ani, acknowledged the challenges but assured that the recruitment process will be conducted with utmost fairness and transparency.
Kaduna Leads the Way
Kaduna State has emerged as the state with the highest number of applications, with a total of 40,272. This is followed by Adamawa State with 36,398 applications and Borno State with 32,048 applications.
At the other end of the spectrum, Anambra State has recorded the lowest number of applications, with a mere 1,664.Ebonyi State is not far behind with 2,132 applications, while Lagos State has received 2,324 applications.

PSC Chairman Encourages South-East Youths
PSC Chairman Dr. Solomon Arase has expressed his satisfaction with the high number of applications received thus far.He noted that this indicates a growing interest among Nigerian youths in pursuing a career in the police force.
However, Arase expressed concern over the low number of applications from the South-East region. He appealed to the youths of the region to reconsider their stance and embrace opportunities in the police force.
Arase emphasized that embracing anti-government criminal gangs will not lead to a brighter future. Instead, he urged the youths to contribute to the development of their region by joining the police force and working to uphold law and order.
Recruitment Process to Remain Fair and Transparent
Arase reaffirmed the PSC's commitment to ensuring that the recruitment process remains fair and transparent. He assured that merit and justice will prevail throughout the entire process.

The PSC has faced criticism in the past for irregularities in its recruitment processes. However, under Arase's leadership,the commission is making concerted efforts to improve its transparency and accountability.
