NPC Justifies N200 Billion Expenditure on 2023 Census Planning
The National Population Commission (NPC) has expended approximately N200 billion in preparation for the 2023 population and housing census. This information was revealed by Nasir Kwarra, the commission's executive chairman,during the flag-off of training for interviewers for the 2023 Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) held in Akwanga, Nasarawa State. Kwarra explained that the funds were primarily utilized for the procurement of essential items required for the census. He emphasized that the funds were judiciously utilized, and the procured items will serve the purpose of the upcoming census, eliminating the need for future procurement. Additionally, the training provided to facilitators, supervisors, and enumerators remains a valuable asset for the commission.
Reiterating the importance of the census, Kwarra stated that Nigeria critically requires this exercise.
