The decision stems from an appeal filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC), contesting the outcome of the gubernatorial polls held in March 2023. The APC alleged irregularities and malpractices during the election process,particularly in the aforementioned LGAs.

Upon examination of the evidence presented by the APC, the Court of Appeal concluded that the Zamfara State Election Petitions Tribunal had failed to adequately consider these crucial details. Consequently, the court nullified the tribunal's decision and ordered a rerun in the affected LGAs.
