Breaking: President Tinubu Makes New Changes in the Police Recruitment, Check It Out

In a significant move to address the visible manpower shortage in the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given the green light for yearly recruitment, according to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun. The decision aims to bolster the force's capabilities and alleviate the strain on existing personnel.

During an official visit to the Kwara State Police Command, IGP Egbetokun emphasized the urgent need to double the manpower strength of the Police Force, citing the current scenario where one policeman often undertakes the responsibilities meant for two. Egbetokun highlighted that the President's approval for yearly recruitment is a step toward achieving a professionally competent police force. The focus will extend beyond numerical strength, encompassing training, welfare, and improved working conditions. He also committed to enhancing officers' lives, including salary increases and comprehensive insurance plans.

This model, he argued, could address concerns about states' ability to sustain their police forces financially. He cautioned against repeating historical mistakes and advocated learning from the past for effective law enforcement reforms.
