One of the most important roles at UNICEF is that of the Child Protection Officer. Child Protection Officers play a vital role in protecting children from violence, abuse, and exploitation. They also work to ensure that children have access to the services and support they need to thrive.

As a Child Protection Officer at UNICEF, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children. You will work with a team of dedicated professionals to develop and implement child protection programs, provide technical support to government and NGO partners, and advocate for the rights of children.

Here are some of the key responsibilities of a Child Protection Officer at UNICEF:

  • Support to programme development and planning: Conduct and update situation analyses, research and report on development trends, and contribute to the development of sectoral programme goals, objectives, strategies, and results-based planning.
  • Programme management, monitoring and delivery of results: Work closely with colleagues and partners to implement programmes, monitor and evaluate progress, and report on results.
  • Technical and operational support to programme implementation: Provide technical and operational support to government counterparts, NGO partners, UN system partners, and other country office partners/donors.
  • Networking and partnership building: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to promote and support child protection.
  • Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building: Identify and implement innovative approaches to child protection, and build the capacity of partners to deliver effective child protection services.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of child protection principles and practices, as well as experience working in a developing country context. You should also be a highly motivated and results-oriented individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
