In a significant development, the federal government has announced its plan to initiate the disbursement of pending stipends owed to N-Power beneficiaries. The N-Power program manager, Akindele Egbuwalo, delivered this promising news during a meeting with the beneficiaries in Abuja. This revelation comes on the heels of the recovery of funds from current payment service providers and is aimed at addressing the long-pending payment delays experienced by the beneficiaries.
This official statement was made on October 16, 2023, through Jamaluddeen Kabir, the national communication manager of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA). Moreover, the N-Power program has undergone a transformation and is now known as the "Renewed Hope Job Creation Scheme" (RHJCS). This rebranding is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's fresh agenda and will be overseen by Dr. Betta Edu, the Honourable Minister. The revitalized program has ambitious goals, with the objective of reaching five million beneficiaries over the course of five years, absorbing one million young individuals each year under both the graduate and non-graduate categories.
It's worth noting that prior to this announcement, N-Power beneficiaries had expressed concerns, and some had even contemplated a nationwide protest due to the lack of information and delayed payments. However, Akindele Egbuwalo's transparent communication has provided reassurance, obviating the need for protests.
