In a statement issued on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, the DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, said Bawa was released a few hours ago.
The statement read: "DSS confirms release of former EFCC chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, a few hours ago, today, Oct. 25."
Bawa was arrested by the DSS on June 14, 2023, shortly after his suspension from the position of EFCC Chairman by President Bola Tinubu over allegations of abuse of office.
