In a groundbreaking move to ease the burden of fuel subsidy removal on Nigerians, the Federal Government has extended its N25,000 conditional cash transfer program to pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS). This latest development follows a strategic collaboration between the Pension Transitional Administration Directorate (PTAD), the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), and pension union executives.
In a statement released by PTAD's Corporate Communications unit, it was clarified that pensioners are now a priority group for the approved N25,000 Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT).
Mr. Sulayman, Director of the Civil Service Pension Department (CSPD), explained that PTAD and NUP have diligently collected and verified the data of all DBS pensioners, which has been promptly submitted to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
