Liverpool took the first significant step, raiding Brighton for World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister. 

The Argentina midfielder, 24, signed a five-year contract after the Reds activated a reported £35million release clause in his contract, though with various add-ons and bonuses this could increase to £55m.

Meanwhile, Blues forward Kai Havertz swapped West for North London and joined Arsenal while Tottenham splashed out on Leicester star James Maddison.

The versatile forward, 25, has signed a six-year deal and he will join up with the West Londoners on July 1.

Declan Rice is set to leave West Ham following their Europa Conference League triumph, with a move across London to Arsenal reportedly close to completion.

Clubs parted with a record £1.9billion last summer as we said hello to the likes of Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak, Darwin Nunez and Antony. 

When does the summer 2023 transfer window open?

The summer transfer window opened on June 14 for all domestic deals between clubs in England and Scotland.

Clubs will not be allowed to sign overseas players until the international window opens on July 1.
