New NPC Scam Alert

The National Population Commission (NPC) has warned the public about a new scam that is circulating online. The scam involves a fake ID card registration portal that is asking people to pay a fee to be given an id card with the NPC.

The scam works like this: you will receive a message on social media or your phone that asks you to click on a link. When you click on the link, it will take you to a fake NPC website that looks like the real thing. The website will ask you to enter your NPC ID number.

Once you have entered your personal information, the website will show you a list of your details, including your NIN, email address, and phone number. This is designed to make you believe that the website is authentic.

The website will then ask you to pay a fee of 1,500 naira to be considered for a job with the NPC. If you pay the fee, the scammers will simply take your money and disappear.

The NPC has also warned the public that the scammers may have obtained your personal information from the list of enumerators and supervisors that was released earlier this year. This list includes your NIN, email address, full name, and phone number.

If you are concerned that your personal information may have been compromised, you can contact the NPC or the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).

How to Protect Yourself from This Scam

• Do not click on any links in messages from people you do not know.
• Go directly to the NPC website to apply for a job.
• Be aware of the signs of a scam.
• Protect your personal information.

If you have already fallen victim to this scam, you should contact your bank and report the fraud. You should also file a complaint with the Nigerian Police Force.

The NPC is working to track down the scammers and bring them to justice. In the meantime, please be vigilant and do not fall for this scam.
