U.S. Will Get DCP Abba Kyari To Face Trial, Whether He Likes It Or Not - Falana
Human rights lawyer Femi Falana claims that whether Abba Kyari, the deputy commissioner of police, likes it or not, the US government will bring him to trial.
On Sunday, Falana took part in a Twitter Spaces discussion moderated by Rinu Oduala, a rights advocate and community organiser.
A warrant for Kyari's arrest had been issued by a US court for his alleged involvement in the $1.1 million fraud perpetrated by Hushpuppi, a self-confessed international fraudster.
According to a US court document, Hushpuppi allegedly paid Kyari to arrest Kelly Chibuzor Vincent, a co-fraudster, in order to prevent him from interfering with a scam deal.
The incident sparked widespread outrage, prompting Kyari's suspension until an investigation into the charges is carried out by a commission.
However, the head of the banned intelligence response team (IRT) has disputed the claims since his suspension.
Falana, commenting on the development, stated that Kyari will be brought to trial as soon as possible.
