Bandits Kill One Soldier In Another Gun Battle
fifteen bandits have allegedly been killed in a gun battle between the Military and armed bandits in Anguwan Mallam, Kontagora local government area of Niger State.

A military officer was said to have also died in the fight on the side of the Army.
The incident Daily Post gathered occurred Saturday evening at about 4pm when military men on patrol of the area sighted the bandits in Anguwan Mallam some few kilometres from Kontagora town.
Eyewitness accounts said upon sighting the bandits on their motorcycles, the military men engaged them in a fierce fight, resulting in the death of many bandits and a military officer.
Kebbi Shuts 7 Schools Indefinitely
No fewer than seven schools in Kebbi State had been shutdown indefinitely in the aftermath of the attack on Federal Government College (FGC), Birnin Yauri, by suspected bandits, according to Isah Arzika, State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT)

Arzika told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on phone, on Saturday, that those affected were schools located on the frontlines of the areas prone to attacks by suspected bandits.
He said that the government had directed all school principals to close any school which they believed were not safe, adding that police and vigilantes had also been deployed to the schools for monitoring and protection
Group Demands Psychiatric Test On Aspirants
As Anambra State gears up for governorship election this November, a political pressure group, Anambra Ekunie, has called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to conduct psychiatric test on its aspirants.

Several political parties are set to hold their primary election having concluded the screening process.
The group said such test had become extremely necessary so as to avoid the possibility of electing a mentally unstable person to fly the party’s flag at the November election.
Speaking through a statement made available to journalists in Enugu and signed by its President, Dr. Ifeanyi Achusi, Anambra Ekunie said the public conduct of some PDP aspirants is a source of concern to its members.
