Former Real Madrid star, Sami Khedira has announced his retirement from football at the age of 34.

The former Juventus midfielder currently plays for German Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin and he has made just eight appearances, providing two assists this season.

Sami Khedira released an official statement on his Twitter page to confirm retirement from the round-leather game.

"After the match on Saturday it’s time to say goodbye. So proud that I had the chance to experience all these special moments with you! Thanks to all the fans, teammates, coaches and of course my family and friends," Khedira stated

The World Cup winner spent most of his career at Real Madrid from 2010-15 after joining the Spanish giants from Stuttgart, then moved to Juve from 2015 to February 2021.

His career has been beset by injuries, making just 145 appearances in the Bianconeri jersey over five years.
