"Schools Will Still Resume Next Week Monday" Presidency Explains Education Minister's Statement.

Education Minister Adamu Adamu has said earlier that because of the ongoing spread in the country of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ministry should accept the re-opening date, which is 18 January 2021.

This statement has generated numerous theories among people as many do not want a shift in the date of resumption. Even when the statement was interpreted, Sani Aliu, the PTF's National Coordinator, replied to people's questions during a press briefing in Abuja.

He said that the date of school resumption remains Monday, January 18, unless a separate order occurs from the Ministry of Education. He requires all states to stick exclusively to the date.

The government is prepared to take a chance considering the recent upsurge in COVID-19 cases as schools are already prepared to follow the COVID-19 protocols. Although the date is yet to be reviewed, it has not yet been reviewed. Any progress during the review will be announced, but schools resume as things stand on Monday, 18 January 2021.
