Donny van de Beek completes long term move to Man United in a deal worth €39m
The Red Devils have an option to extend his deal by another year depending on his performances
The 23-year-old played in the Europa League final against United three years ago
Manchester United have completed the signing of Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek from Ajax. The 23-year-old joined the Red Devils on a five-year deal valued around €39 million and they have an option to extend his stay at Old Trafford depending on his performances.
He is a product of Ajax academy and made his senior debut for the first time in 2015 - giving him an European experience to help United in their Champions League campaign next season
The midfielder was part of the Erik ten Hag's team that reached the last four stage of UEFA's elite competition in 2019. He featured in the 2017 Europa League final against United.
Van de Beek scored 10 goals and 11 assists in 37 games across competitions last season before the Eredivisie was curtailed.
The Dutchman said: “I cannot begin to explain how incredible an opportunity it is to join a club with such an amazing history. “I would like to thank everyone at Ajax. I grew up there and I will always have a special bond with the club.

The Red Devils are pursuing a move for the Frenchman after winning the race to land Ajax Donny Van de Beek on a five-year deal valued around £40 million.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now hoping to complete the signing of the 21-year-old France international in the next coming days.
Legit.ng also reported that Manchester United are planning to beat Liverpool to the signing of Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara this summer. The Spaniard has been linked with the Premier League champions all season long but the Red Devils appear to have established contact with the player.
