Lagos govt announces closure of COVID-19 isolation centres

There's a bit bit of good news in Lagos as the state has been recording a decrease in the number of positive cases of coronavirus - For this reason, the state government has relaxed some of the measures put in place to stop the spread of the deadly virus

Also, three isolation centres in the state have been shut as they are having less than 20% of their occupancy capacities

As the Nigerian government keeps making efforts and taking safety measures to curb the spread of coronavirus in the country, Lagos has recorded a decline in the number of cases.

As a result of this, the state has closed down some COVID-19 isolation centres.

The Eti-Osa facility was shut and another one in Lekki. The Agidingbi isolation centre will also be shut and the patients relocated to a large capacity Centre in Anthony area, which will be soon commissioned.

This was disclosed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at Lagos House, Marina, during the 17th update on the management of coronavirus in the state.

According to him, the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH) in Yaba will revert to its status as a care centre to cater to all forms of infectious diseases. However, the tent built at IDH premises by Coalition Against COVID-19 (CACOVID) will still function strictly for the management of cases of COVID-19.

The Lagos government has relaxed some of the lockdown measures taken to curb the spread of the ravaging virus. One of such relaxed measures is the lifting of the ban on churches and mosques which takes effect from Friday, August 7. Governor Sanwo-Olu made this known on Saturday, August 1, in an address where he gave updates on the efforts of the state governments on Covid-19 crisis.

The Lagos state governor also announced that schools will be reopened for students in the graduating classes in the state on Monday, August 3. Meanwhile, Nigeria recorded a massive drop in the number of confirmed coronavirus infections on Saturday, August 1

However, the Federal Capital Territory recorded a spike again for the third day as it kept Lagos in second position.
