No amount of kneeling will save Ize-Iyamu from defeat - Edo deputy governor mocks Oshiomhole

As the people of Edo state prepare to pick a new leader, political parties are doing all they can to win the election - With less than three months to the reelection, Philip Shaibu,

the running mate to Governor Obaseki, has said the APC and its candidate, Ize-Iyamu will be defeated - Shaibu mocked the APC national chairman, Oshiomhole, for kneeling down to campaign for votes for the party's candidate

The deputy governor of Edo state, Philip Shaibu, has taken swipe at the former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, for going on his knees while campaigning for Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

Oshiomhole was reported to have knelt down to beg the council of traditional rulers in Edo state to vote for Ize-Iyamu who is APC's flagbearer in the coming governorship election.

According to Shaibu, kneeling would not bring the APC victory in the election, Sahara Reporters reports. The deputy governor is optimistic that the party will be defeated on September 19 when the people of Edo state troop out to select a new leader.

Shaibu said: “No amount of kneeling stunt will save the former national chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, and his candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, from defeat.” Meanwhile, the Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki, has been accused by the New Nigeria Collective (NNC) group of running his government based on lies.

According to the group, Governor Obaseki is best known for hounding opponents who refuse to support his government. In a press statement sent to journalists on Wednesday, July 22 and signed by its chairman, Adeola Adewunmi, the group also accused the governor of making several attempts to intimidate one of the respected men in Edo state, Captain Hosa Okunbor.

The group queried Obaseki’s penchant for calling Oshiomhole a godfather but stressed that the governor was the greatest beneficiary of that status he so conferred on the former national APC chairman.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that as the Edo governorship election draws closer, the PDP has shown readiness to reclaim the south-south state. The opposition party on Saturday, July 25, flagged-off the campaign for the re-election of Governor Obaseki and his deputy Phillips Shaibu.
